You would have to transport yourself decades into the past before you came across a top-rated pickup truck that underwent such a radical transformation as the Ford F-150 light duty. The key word here is light. Since 2016, the newly redesigned F-150 has replaced most of its steel construction throughout the vehicle with a military-grade aluminum alloy that has resulted in a weight reduction of just over 317 kg (700 pounds).

Considering that light duty trucks are used just as often for regular driving as they are for work or hauling, this weight reduction results in greater fuel efficiency for you, as well as increased capability. The aluminum door panels are also more resistant to scratches, dings, and dents than their predecessors, keeping your ride looking nicer for longer.

There’s a whole lot more to read and get excited about! The 2017 Ford F-150 is now available here at Carman Ford. Come in today to test drive one yourself, and see if you can notice the difference. We carry plenty of F-150 models in our inventory, including the Lariat, King Ranch, and top-end Platinum trims

In the 2017 F-150, there is a band of four engines vying for glory under the hood. Each operates alongside a 6-speed automatic transmission, and each is available with 4WD to cut through loose dirt, rock, and snow:

  • 3.5L Ti-VCT V6: 282 horsepower; 253 lb-ft torque; 3,447 kg (7,600 lbs) max towing
  • 2.7L turbocharged EcoBoost V6: 325 horsepower; 375 lb-ft torque; 3,855 kg (8,500 lbs) max towing
  • 3.5L turbocharged EcoBoost V6: 375 horsepower; 470 lb-ft torque; 5,534 kg (12,200 lbs) max towing
  • 5.0L Ti-VCT V8: 385 horsepower; 387 lb-ft torque; 4,989 kg (11,000 lbs) max towing

The weight reduction has also boosted fuel economy across the line, and the leader is the 2.7L EcoBoost, which now attains an incredible 9.3L/100km on the highway. The V8 engine is also rated to haul a payload up to 1,497 kg (3,300 lbs).

Thirteen generations into designing Canada’s best-selling truck and you can believe that the Ford engineers have figured out how to make a stunning interior by now. The Ford F-150 is offered in extended cab, crew cab, and regular body styles, with three additional bed lengths and five trim packages, so you can customize your truck to your needs. Whether you prefer a bare bones, Spartan interior, or one loaded with amenities like the 8″ touchscreen, heated leather seating, ambient lighting, and a host of climate features, you’re sure to find the F-150 as comfortable on the inside as it is rugged on the outside.
