Ford Flex Review - Why the Ford Flex was Discontinued?

Ford Flex Review - Why the Ford Flex was Discontinued?

Any drivers who love the unique look and maximum space offered by the Ford Flex better head to their nearest dealership--the 2019 Ford Flex is the latest and last model that is for sale in Canada. This polarizing vehicle has been a staple of the Ford lineup since its debut.  The Flex starts at $32,649 (MSRP) and comes in three model variations: SE, SEL, and Limited.

$34,549

The 2019 model comes in both six- and seven-passenger seating options. In all models, the rear seats fold flat for additional storage capacity--up to 2,355 litres with both rows folded down (1,223 litres with just the third-row flat).

2019 Ford Flex Performance and Features

The 2019 Ford Flex is built with a 3.5-litre TI-VCT V6 engine that generates 365 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. It boasts a fuel economy of 15.7 L/100km city and 11.2 L/100km highway. It pairs nicely with a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that proves responsive to the slightest driver adjustment. There is also an optional 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine available at an additional cost. Its low center of gravity and V6 engine provide performance that is not matched by many vans or other SUVs.

The technology and additional features found in the 2019 Ford Flex depend upon the trim level and optional packages added to the vehicle. These features may include, but are not limited to remote start system, SYNC 3, SiriusXM Radio, dual-zone climate control system, and adjustable pedals. It offers a spacious and well-appointed interior made of high-quality materials.

The End of an Era

After its debut in 2008, the Ford Flex was met with both admiration and contempt. Its boxy shape that combined minivan spaciousness with wagon-like sportiness offered a good choice for crossover shoppers who wanted something new. However, with fierce competition among three-row SUVs, Ford made the decision to end production after the 2019 model run.
